Turnip is an absolutely normal young witch who is living on the second floor of an old-school restaurant with her parents. She is, like other teens, very much curious about the world. She tends to be rebellious when it comes to coming of ages subjects but down to the root, very kind and caring.

Helping out at the restaurant at a young age, she develops a passion for cooking. She learns from both her parents and especially her grandma, Nana, whom she deeply adores and respects.

On the weekend and day-offs, Turnip likes to wake up early and rushes the local farmer market, hunting for fresh ingredients to serve at the restaurant.

Turnip

This sketch, among many, speak loudest to me. The shapes of her hair and how it's tied in such an abnormal fashion make her stand out from the rest. She also looks the most natural. There I know with a few small adjustments, Turnip is alive.

Well, you can always be so sure about your design. While I'm exploring different possible costume choices, I also change up her hairs to see if there is a better choice.

About her costume, I want to have some Asian touches to it. I look at traditional Vietnamese/ Filipino traditional dresses for inspiration. With bits and pieces, I attempt at a more modern, young-looking regular outfit. I love to put her in sandals but it wouldn't be practical since she spends a lot of time in the kitchen, a dangerous, slippery zone.

Mint

Mint is a young genius chef who inherits a chain of luxury restaurants scattered across the nation. He, in every sense, takes pride in his exceptional skills and extensive culinary knowledge.

Proud, picky, and distant, he never lets anyone get too close to him as if he fears they're only on it for his fame and no doubt his gigantic inheritance.

Nana's final design comes out to be the most straightforward of the three. I always know that she needs to be lovable, by everyone. Her shapes are much more rounded, and her palette consists of mostly warm, earthy hues just like her personality, tender, generous, patient, and kind. Her hippy young self is still somewhat visible though. Hint? look at the hair.
